What is Agentforce Assistant? What it does, what it costs, and a simpler option

Agentforce Assistant is Salesforce's AI helper for employees, formerly Einstein Copilot. Here's what it does, what it costs at list price, and when a simpler assistant fits better.

The short answer

Agentforce Assistant is Salesforce's built-in AI helper for employees: the chat panel inside Salesforce where staff ask questions and get help with records. It used to be called Einstein Copilot, and it's now part of Agentforce, Salesforce's platform for AI agents.

It's a strong option if you're already investing in Agentforce. If you mainly want your team to get answers from Salesforce without reports or training, there are simpler and cheaper ways to get there.

Agentforce Assistant vs. Einstein Copilot: what changed

If you're comparing Agentforce and Einstein Copilot, you're looking at the same product under different names. Salesforce renamed it more than once:

  • Einstein Copilot: the original name for Salesforce's AI assistant.
  • Agentforce Assistant: the name it took when Salesforce launched Agentforce.
  • Agentforce: today the assistant is set up as an agent inside Agentforce, and Setup lists it as "Agentforce (Default)".

Salesforce said the rename didn't change how existing setups work. What changed is how it's sold and set up: under the Agentforce name, alongside the tools for building other AI agents.

What Agentforce Assistant does

Inside Salesforce, staff can ask it about records, get summaries, draft messages, and run actions your admin has set up. Because it's Salesforce's own product, it works across Salesforce's clouds, and admins can extend it with Agentforce Builder and Prompt Builder.

How useful it is day to day depends on setup: which actions are turned on, which permissions people have, and how well your data is organized.

What it costs

These are published list prices as of September 2026. They may have changed, so check Salesforce's own pricing page.

  • Agentforce add-ons: $125 per user per month ($150 for Industries add-ons).
  • Agentforce User License: $5 per user per month, plus Flex Credits bought separately ($500 per 100,000 credits; a standard action uses 20 credits).
  • Agentforce 1 editions: from $550 per user per month.
  • Salesforce Foundations ($0) includes some free AI building tools, such as Prompt Builder and Agentforce Builder.

What setup involves

A basic setup can be quick, but getting real value usually means deciding what the assistant should do, setting up actions and permissions, testing, and showing people how to use it. Some setups also need Data Cloud, and many organizations bring in an implementation partner. For a team without a full-time admin, that time is the real cost.

A simpler alternative

Hank is a Salesforce assistant for everyday staff. Your team asks questions in plain English from the utility bar, and Hank answers from your own Salesforce, using only what each person can already see.

  • Priced for the whole organization, not per user: $99 a month on Essentials (about 300 questions a month), or $600 a month on Growth (about 1,500 questions).
  • Ready in about 15 minutes: install from a link, connect with a one-time code.
  • Finds duplicates and messy data, and suggests fixes that wait for a person's approval.
  • No Data Cloud, no separate AI account, nothing to build.

Hank isn't for building customer-facing bots or agents that act on their own. He's for helping the people who already use your Salesforce.

How to decide

Start with the problem, not the product. If your team struggles to get answers from Salesforce, try the simplest thing that solves that. If you want AI agents that carry out multi-step work or talk to customers, look at Agentforce.
